Men's Gradient Fleece
The perfect balance of wind resistance, warmth and breathabilityr.
On the hill, a fleece mid-layer with a certain amount of wind protection is a very handy thing to have. Unfortunately, traditional windproof fleeces don’t really work very well. They keep the wind off – but they’re also stiff, heavy, uncomfortable and not very breathable.
Our Gradient Jacket solves the problem by taking advantage of the very latest fabric technology. Naturally it’s warm but it’s also phenomenally breathable, supremely comfortable and offers a really useful level of wind resistance.
The outer is made from an astonishingly tightly-knitted polyester. It’s highly resistant to pilling, very durable and extremely snag resistant. But it’s also soft, flexible and really comfortable. The inner is a high-loft pillar fleece. It’s job is to trap air. Lots of it. But it’s also very breathable and quick drying. The two layers are held together with an advanced – and really rather innovative – wind-resistant bonding. Which eliminates the need for the sort of stiff laminate found lurking below the surface of so many other makers’ windproof fleece.
It’s all very clever and tricky to make. But, in use, you’ll forget about that. It just works – without any fuss.
The whole jacket is reversible – worn the usual way, warmth is maximised and the jacket can be linked with our Interchange™ compatible shells, Reversed, the jacket is equally as windproof but slightly less insulating. And, with the smooth surface on the inside, the jacket layers extremely smoothly with higher friction base layers such as our brilliant Superfine Merino 200 Zip.
The Gradient Jacket feature twin mid-mounted hand pockets which are also accessible from either side with a clever arrangement of double zips. They can also be used as venting zips if required – a neat side effect of our Minimum Layer Construction™ techniques.
The main zip and hand pockets all have easy-grab zip pullers and the jacket features an adjustable hem allowing you to keep in the heat or fine-tune the fit.
