If you spent over £200 on a mac, what’s the least you’d expect?
If you’re anything like us, you’d probably say “Well, it’s got to be waterproof”.
Yet, if you spent that sort of money on a mac from the high street, you might well be disappointed. It would probably look smart, it might well protect your clothes from the odd splash on the way to work and it would almost certainly have a very fancy checked lining.
But it’s unlikely to be waterproof. Properly waterproof. Water resistant maybe. But, if you’ve ever lived in Manchester or Seattle, the term ‘water resistant’ has the sort of unnerving connotations that make you think: “I’d better take my brolly”.
Our Globetrotter Mac is completely different. It’s made from exactly the same high-spec Barricade™ technology that we use in our specialist outdoor jackets. It’s a proven fabric, trusted and relied upon by trekkers, mountaineers and committed walkers all over the world.
It’s totally waterproof and phenomenally breathable. We’ve also given it a special Durable Water Repellency™ finish – which means that rain beads up on the surface and runs off without soaking into the fabric. The polyester fabric itself strikes a great balance between appearance and performance – it’s tough but it’s also soft and light with a wonderful drape and an attractive, natural hand feel.
Fabric technology, though, isn’t the only smart thing about our Globetrotter Mac. This latest version has a more formal, tailored appearance than previous incarnations with a very traditional collar. It’ll look perfect with our Envoy Jacket and Trousers.
We’ve also included a detachable, waterproof hood which zips off and rolls up into its own little pack bag which may be stored in one of the inside pockets.
It features two large, zipped hand pockets which are mesh lined for lightness, packability and breathability. The large internal pocket doubles up as a Packpocket™ into which the whole Mac packs for convenient stowage.
A small, zipped pocket at the chest keeps travel documents safe and secure – but close at hand. An additional security pocket is hidden in the lining – where you’d least expect it – though if you want to find out exactly where it is, you’ll have to buy one!
