Dry air is a fantastic insulator. Anyone who ventures into the outdoors knows that. And we also know that it doesn’t always occur naturally, particularly in the hills and mountains of temperate Britain.

The key to keeping warm is trapping dry air – and that’s where our Microgrid Stowaway Jacket comes in. It’s full of holes which trap lots and lots of air. We specify a very advanced, high quality polyester fleece which is characterised by a hard-wearing ‘holey’ grid structure.

And these holes have lots of other benefits: they make the whole top lighter. They also make it much more packable and far more breathable. All for the same warmth as a much heavier, ordinary fleece.

Our Microgrid Stowaway Jacket is a functional - but casual looking - fleece jacket designed to maximise the properties of this remarkable material. It’s a simple, technical design which is perfect as a layering piece – both in the hills or around town.

It features two zipped hand pockets and an inside zipped pocket which doubles as a Packpocket™ into which the whole jacket packs for convenient stowage.
