Local Knowledge
If history is your thing you are in the right place. Once the second most important city in the kingdom, there are not one but two cathedrals to visit. Reputably, there was once a church for every week of the year. Many are open to visit as either a place of worship or converted into art centres, puppet theatres, cafes etc. Norwich Castle Museum sits proudly atop of the castle mound overlooking the city centre. There is also Strangers Hall and the Bridewell museums to be enjoyed.
If you’re looking to shop, Norwich Market was voted 'best large outdoor market in Britain'. Most major retailers are represented in the main city centre or within Chapelfield Mall. Perhaps the most vibrant area of the city is 'The Lanes' - a network of ancient narrow streets full of small independent shops, cafes and restaurants. If you take your coffee seriously, both Strangers Café and nearby roastery can be found here and will not disappoint.
On a sunny day make the effort to stroll along the 'Riverside Walk' and around the Cathedral Close to see Norwich at it's very best.
