Started in 2012 by Rohan co-founder Sarah Howcroft, the Gift Your Gear scheme has been very much part of the fabric of our brand since its inception. Through our scheme, we’re able to collect reusable, pre-loved outdoor clothing – from any brand, not just Rohan – and distribute them to inspiring causes. Gift Your Gear donations have been received by over 700 projects across the country. From Scout groups and Forest Schools to wellbeing charities and youth organisations, our beneficiaries reach right across the UK, from the top of Scotland to the tip of Cornwall. We frequently hear stories of the disadvantaged being unable to attend walks or join outdoor groups due to a lack of suitable clothing, but with our Gift Your Gear scheme we hope to make the great outdoors accessible to everyone.

 

 

Preventing used clothing from ending up in landfill

 

Over 350,000 tonnes** of clothing end up in UK landfill every year. Your donations can help to cut down this figure and give your outdoor clothing a new lease of life. Whether your donations end up being used for gardening, attending local walks, or venturing further afield, we all deserve to feel the benefits of being outside. More important now than ever before, spending time in green spaces can do wonders for boosting our mood, reducing feelings of stress and improving our mental and physical health. How to donate to Gift Your Gear

 

We’re delighted to be able to offer this initiative to the outdoor community, who we know care about the environment and inspiring the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts. To make a Gift Your Gear donation, simply take your clothing to any Rohan store in May – it’s that easy! There are over 50 locations to choose from in the UK. If you’re thinking of having a clear out, now is a great time to do so. We accept all usable outdoor kit. We are particularly in need of waterproofs, insulating jackets, fleeces and children’s outdoor kit. We are however unable to accept underwear, equipment or sleeping bags. As a thank you for any qualifying Gift Your Gear donation made, we’ll also reward you with 15% off * your next Rohan purchase. Perfect for upgrading your own outdoor kit!
