Local Knowledge
Dunster is a picturesque mediaeval village, situated between the coast of the Bristol Channel and Exmoor. Known as the gateway to Exmoor, Dunster has many reasons to visit, aside from visiting the Rohan store!
One of the main attractions of Dunster is Exmoor itself. Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on the moor, is only five miles away. Spot Red Deer and Exmoor Ponies on your walks across the hills (remember to keep a beady eye out for the famous Beast of Exmoor!)
There are many walks just minutes from the store. The start or finish, depending on which way you are heading, of the South West Coast Path is only a couple of miles away in Minehead.
There are a number of tearooms in Dunster. Try Locks Tea Rooms, Cobblestones or Tessa’s for tea and scones, coffee and homemade cakes. Directly outside of Rohan Dunster is the Dunster Lunchbox, run by Cliff Langdon, which sells tea, coffee, sandwiches and pasties. When it’s a hot summer’s day, check out Style’s locally made ice-cream. Here you can buy your lunch and snacks before you go up onto the moor to try out your new Rohan purchases!
Throughout the year you can experience many local events including the Devon and Exmoor Walking Festival (usually held end of April, early May), the Country Fair (July in the Castle grounds), the Dunster Show (August in the Castle grounds) and Dunster by Candlelight (held on the first Friday and Saturday nights in December).
