Local Knowledge

Known as the 'Town of Flowers', Shrewsbury has something for everyone. In the town square there is a regular 'Made in Shropshire' craft market (held on the second Saturday of every month) and a monthly Farmers' Market (held on the first Friday of every month).

There is also the celebrated indoor market which was named Britain's Favourite Market winner in 2018. It has seventy independent businesses to explore. In addition, visitors can enjoy browsing the longest uninterrupted row of independent shops in Britain on mediaeval Wyle Cop.

You could enjoy a refreshing drink, light bite or lunch in an array of independent cafes and restaurants, do ask Rohan staff for their personal recommendation!

Shrewsbury is proud to be the birthplace of Charles Darwin, where he spent 27 years of his life. You could choose to look around the Shrewsbury Library building which was the original home of Shrewsbury School, which Darwin attended.

The historic Music Hall building, now the Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery, is also well worth a visit. You may be planning to walk in the beautiful hills of South Shropshire but you can also enjoy a lovely stroll around the River Severn loop through the Quarry Park and visit the Dingle gardens, originally designed by Percy Thrower.
