Local Knowledge
For a lovely cup of coffee, try The Cottage Kitchen on Logies Lane or Bibi's Café on Ellice Place. For breakfast or brunch, we would highly recommend the menu at Next Door available on South Street (only two or three doors down from our shop!).
Mitchell's on Market Street is an exceptional lunch spot with wonderful menu options and, if you're looking for something sweet to finish off an exciting day, why not visit St Andrews' oldest ice cream parlour, Jannetta’s Gelateria, and try one of their unique ice cream or sorbet flavours (the Scottish tablet flavour is fantastic). For dinner, The Vine Leaf (South Street) and The Adamson (South Street) will not disappoint, or, of course, you could dive into some classic Fish and Chips at The Tail End (Market Street).
Once suitably fuelled, we'd highly recommend Tentsmuir Forest and Beach which is a stunning walk all year round. Plus, you'll find a seal colony at the very northern-most tip. Just south of St Andrews, the Fife fishing villages of Crail, Anstruther and St Monan’s are treasures along the Fife Coastal Path - though we may be biased as these stunning villages are home to some of our team members.
Within St Andrews itself, the castle, cathedral and university buildings provide a stunning backdrop to the town and simply should not be missed. St Rules Tower (within the Cathedral grounds) provides an exceptional view of the entire town and is most spectacular at sundown. If you're looking for a short walk in town, the Lade Braes is a hidden gem, or if you are looking to immerse yourself in nature, the Botanical Gardens make for the perfect afternoon activity. Of course, no trip to St Andrews would be complete without a trip to the Old Course or a walk on either the east or west sands.
