    One of the toughest tasks we've given to our designers in recent times was to develop a more ‘active’ version of our classic Bags trousers.

    We asked them to create a pair of trousers which offered greater freedom of movement for adventurous walkers and trekkers.

    The brief was to stay true to the original Bags design concept and create protective, packable, mountain expedition legwear retaining all the key signature features such as the pocket layout, an accessory D-ring and the reinforced knee and seat panels for durability.

    We've used a tried and tested material from our trouser range - a super-tough technical fibre with elastane and Dynamic Moisture Control - and used it to make our new Stretch Bags.

    They’re still high wicking, quick drying and offer a UPF 40+ sun protection* but the stretch now allows a greater freedom of movement enabling them to handle just about any activity you can throw at them.

    *A Note on Sun Protection

    All Rohan garments carrying our sun protection icon have been tested in accordance with recognised international standards for ultraviolet radiation protection. Garments are awarded a rating of UPF 40+. Protection may be significantly reduced with extended wear or if the garment is stretched or wet. Any associated UV risks will vary according to individual skin type or medical history.

Lightweight - Weight 325 Grams

We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.

Packable - Pack Size 800ml

Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.

Fast Drying - Drying Time 5 hours

All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.

  • Dynamic Moisture Control

    DMC is a wicking technology that rapidly spreads the moisture our bodies create across the surface area of a garment. This can be achieved through the technical construction of the garment or by a performance coating and ensures that the garment dries more quickly, encourages evaporative heat loss and helps you stay cooler and more comfortable for longer.

  • Sun Protection UPF 40+

    This garment has been tested in accordance with recognised international standards for ultraviolet radiation protection – and has been awarded a rating of UPF 40+.   • Secure Pockets

    Losing possessions when you’re close to home is frustrating, but losing your car keys, passport, phone or wallet while you’re travelling can really spoil your adventure. That’s why we put lots of thought into developing safer pockets – deeper, zipped and hidden.
