When adventuring in the sun, we need to be especially mindful of ultraviolet (UV) rays and the threat they can have on the health of our skin. We’ve designed a number of products with UV protection within our Spring/Summer ‘24 range. These styles are a summer wardrobe must-have for outdoor enthusiasts and will help you journey on with complete confidence in your kit.

Why gear up with UV protective clothing?

UV protective clothing is specially designed to block or absorb harmful UV rays. Gearing up with sun protective clothing provides you with an extra layer of defence against the sun’s damaging effects and helps you to take extra precautions to reduce the risk of sunburn and damaged skin when embarking on outdoor activities or during prolonged sun exposure.

UV protective clothing is designed with UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) ratings, which help to indicate the level of protection each item of clothing provides. Our sun protective clothing is tested and awarded with a UPF rating of 40+ allowing you to go about your day knowing you’ll be kept shielded and safe.

With UV protective clothing, you’re provided with comprehensive coverage and can set out on your adventures with peace of mind no matter where your day takes you. Unlike with suncream, you can put your sun protective clothing on before setting out in the morning and simply go about your day*.

Although suncream is effective, it requires regular reapplication especially if you’re sweating, or getting your skin wet during activities such as sailing, or fishing.

*UV protection is only effective on areas covered by clothing. We recommend applying sun cream on areas of bare skin such as your face and neck.

Where would you use it?

Opting for sun protective clothing is ideal for various outdoor settings where you’re exposed to sunlight. Whether you’re at the beach, on a camping trip, or even enjoying everyday activities like walking or gardening. UV protective clothing is especially useful when adventuring in places with intense sunlight where there’s little to no shade, in spots where there may be a lot of reflected light, or at high altitudes where the UV radiation is stronger.

Whether you’re cycling by the coast, horseback riding through a field, or jogging through city streets, you’ll stay well protected through it all.

Where is UV protection featured in our range?

UV protection can be found in clothing such as the shirts, tops, and trousers in our Spring/Summer ‘24 range. Each garment is designed with your needs in mind, to keep them lightweight, versatile, and breathable while providing you with a high level of reliable protection. All of our UV garments are tested so that you can be sure you’ll be safe from UV rays on the sunniest of days.

UPF 40+ Sun Protection Note

All our garments are tested for their Ultraviolet Protection Factor, and those that achieve a rating of UPF 40+ are noted as protection against UV. Garments awarded a 40+ UPF block 97.5% of UV radiation rating, so for every 40 units of radiation, 39 are blocked, and 1 contact the skin.
